Review on Toxic Effects of Di(2-ethylhexyl) Phthalate on Zebrafish Embryos

Di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) is widely used as a plasticizer in consumer products. People are continuously exposed to DEHP through ingestion, inhalation and dermal absorption. From epidemiological studies, has been shown associate with various adverse health effects, such reproductive abnormalities metabolic diseases. Health concerns have raised regarding exposures; therefore, relevant risk assessment become necessary toxicological testing of DEHP. In the past 10 years, an increasing number toxicity studies using zebrafish embryos vivo model due their high fecundity, rapid embryonic development well optical transparency, which now established alternative more conventional rodent model. The aim present paper review effects acute (from embryo stage ?1 week) chronic >1 exposures on zebrafish, start from stage, analyze potential long-term induced by exposure upon subjecting exposures, starting different developmental stages, view facilitate assessments exposures.
